The Help for Chemical Sensitivity or MCS website is operated by iHostdata. Profits from the website are donated to the nonprofit organization Your Community Inc. to raise public awareness about multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS) and other related debilitating medical conditions that can result in temporary or permanent disabilites.
Visitors to this site are encouraged to view a short documentary on the website for the Chemical Sensitivity Foundation. The documentary is produced/directed by Alison Johnson and titled Chemical Sensitivity: A 15-Minute Introduction. This video includes information about the development of multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS) among veterans of the 1991 Gulf War and First Responders and others exposed to the World Trade Center toxins.
Visitors are also encouraged to view three five minute video clips about the lives of sufferers of multiple chemical sensitivty (MCS). The first clip is of a former NYC fire department emergency medical technician and paramedic.
These two videos are about Di Buckland, a mother in Australia, whose child suffered from MCS and the impact it had on their family.
This video is about a young couple who bought a new home and shortly thereafter the wife developed MCS.
Education about mulitple chemical sensitivity is necessary because MCS and related medical disorders are often not taken seriously by many phycians or the public at large. People afflicted with these conditions often suffer debilitating disabilities that impact their lives in terrible ways; effecting their abiltiy to earn a living and their mobility, but they are often meet with disbelief and distain from family, friends, colleagues who seem to think their problems are in their head.
The next video clip we recommend visitors to view is about what can happen when the conventional medical establishment refuses to acknowledge a physiological basis for these terribly debilitating conditions; death of the patient. Sophia suffered from myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME), also referred to as chronic fatique syndrome (CFS), but doctors commited her to a psychiatric ward instead of testing for a physiological basis for her symtoms. The medical coroner puts ME as cause of death on her death certificate.
Scientific research is beginning to show that people who suffer from chemical sensitivity and related conditions have genetic abmornamlities that prevent their bodies from eliminating heavy metals and other toxic chemicals.
Everyone knows that if a person is fed small quanties of arsenic over time, they will die a slow painful death and that doctors are not likley to suspect the cause of death as heavy metal poisoning. Doctors typically recognise symptoms of acute heavy metal poisoning, but seldom recognise the symptoms of low doseage long-term poisoning.
Likewise, few doctors connect the symptoms of patients suffering from MCS and related conditions as over toxicity in the body. Most people's bodies have the ability to eliminate low quantities of chemicals and heavy metals, but long-term exposure to chemicals causes a build-up of toxic chemicals and heavy metals so great that is overwhelms the body's ability to remove them resulting in tissue inflamation and pain. The neurological, endrocrine and lymphatic systems, as well as, the liver and kidneys become over burdened causing a broad spectrum of health problems.
